Platelet Rich Plasma Treatments

Common PRP treatment areas.

What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

Platelet Rich Plasma – PRP is quickly becoming one of the top treatments for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction. It is also being successfully used in conjunction with Micro-Needling to treat hair loss, remodel acne scars, and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.  Not only is it popular, it’s highly effective!

PRP is your body’s own platelet rich plasma.  These platelets, when injected under the skin, cause a cascade of wonderful collagen and elastin producing actions that give you a more vibrant youthful appearance.  And the best part is it’s all natural!  Platelet Rich Plasma is made from your own cells, virtually eliminating the possibility of negative side effects.

How is PRP collected?

Don't be fooled by cheap imitations. The highest quality, most concentrated PRP comes from what is known as a dual spin collection system. Below I have listed the steps in PRP processing. Once you have read through the steps you will understand why dual spin collection is far superior than single spin collection.

  1. 30-60mL of blood is collected
  2. This blood is placed into a special separating tube.
  3. FIRST SPIN: the blood is placed in a special centrifuge to separate the plasma and red blood cells.
  4. SECOND SPIN: the top layer of plasma is separated then RE-spun to separate the PRP from the rest of the plasma
  5. After this second spin you have successfully separated Platelet Rich Plasma from Platelet Poor Plasma.

The word special is used a few times in the description above and that is because this equipment is not your ordinary medical office centrifuge or test tubes.  This equipment has been specifically developed to optimize PRP collection.  If your physician is not using a dual spin system or a system that is specifically designed to collect PRP, please take a moment to think why that is?
